Victoria Park, Kitchener, Ontario

This is a large park, that is beautiful to walk around and have fun. There is a variety of things to do throughout the year. Whether you are there alone, friends or family, there is something to do or see at the park. There are places for free or hourly fees, and is close by to the bus terminal and cabs are usually close by. At the terminal GO bus and coach buses also stop throughout the day. A slight downside is that even though there is garbage cans, there could be a few more place throughout the park. Also beware of the Canadian Geese and their droppings. But do not let those points deter you from coming to the park.
A beautiful park that is a few steps away from the GRT bus terminal in downtown Kitchener. As you enter through the front you see some ponds then a clock tower overlooking a large part of the park. This is where a lot of the festivals or main part of festivals take place. There is a lake with land in the middle than some other land with the pavilion resides. Close to the lake is the Boathouse – a restaurant. There is a statue of Queen Victoria and some cannons along with wildlife, flower beds, trees and shrubs.
It opened in 1896, it has a few bridges that allows people to cross over to other parts of the park. There is as stated a pavilion – fully licensed banquet hall with stage that is available for rent. There is a picinic shelter and an adjoining summer kitchen. There is a large playground and splash pad, with nearby parking next to the pavilion. There is access to the Iron Horse Trail for those who want to continue walking around in nature.
The Pavilion is nestled among natural gardens and mature trees, the 1920’s-era pavilion is overlooking the park. It has a large, well-lit room with the stage. It jas large windows and a 250 person capacity. There has been expanded Wi-Fi service is made possible by a Canada 150 contribution.
Some of the events that the park hosts are: Christmas Fantasy, K-W Multicultural Festival, Kidspark, Kitchener Blues Festival, and Ribfest.
